Psychotherapy/Counselling and Supervision
Del has practices in London (Wimbledon) and Brighton, and also works online (telephone, Skype, Zoom, FaceTime etc.). Del is willing to see for at least an initial consultation anyone who feels his or her life could be helped by psychotherapy/counselling/counselling psychology.
He originally trained as a counsellor at South West London College and later as an Existential Analytic Psychotherapist with the Philadelphia Association (UKCP and UPCA registered). He is also a Chartered Counselling Psychologist (and HCPC registered). He is particularly known for the development of Post Existentialism, where clients can explore phenomenologically, in terms of what emerges, what is important to them - Del’s practice is influenced by humanistic/existential, psychoanalytic and continental philosophy/post modern thinking. He works, as he has done for over 30 years, seeing both long and short-term clients in London (Wimbledon) and Brighton. In addition he has facilitated for more than 10 years experiential groups a week. He also has over 30 years experience of providing individual and group supervision.
During this time Del has worked in various capacities with the National Health Service including providing clinical supervision to London teaching hospitals. However, he does not agree with the vocabulary of a medical model being used for psychotherapy and counselling in terms for example of diagnosis, treatment and medical conditions but instead prefers to explore what emerges through ordinary language. Del is particularly interested in critical psychotherapy and counselling, and is Founding Chair of the Southern Association of Psychotherapy and Counselling (SAFPAC), and Men's Therapy Centre (MTC), Joint Founding Chair of the Critical Psychotherapy Network (CPN), and is on the faculty of the Philadelphia Association (PA).
